At the International Sailing Federations (ISAF) annual general meeting this past weekend, the general assemby voted to drop kiteboarding from the 2016 Olympic sailing classes and replace it with windsurfing. The move comes just six months after ISAF voted to drop Windsurfing and replace it with Kiteboarding. Kiteboarders involved behind the scenes are taking a positive approach and are already regrouping and setting their sites on the 2020 Olympic games.
Pro rider Kristin Boese was instrumental in helping get kiteboarding voted in six months ago, and was onhand for the surprise reversal.
"Thanks for all your support everyone. Everything happens for a reason and I would like to see the kiteboard community take a positive approach to this. We are not going to lose anything but still have our beautiful sport with a wide open future - lets celebrate this fact and enjoy." —Kristin Boese
