The Razor is a four-strut SLE kite from Ocean Rodeo, with a focus on hooked and unhooked freestyle and wave performance. It was the gem of the OR lineup last year, and the addition of the FST wing tips has given the Razor more wind range, more progressive de-power, and a more crisp feel at the controls for 2012. Test Team riders were impressed with the simple boosting ability of the Razor, and some even marked it as their favourite of the big boosters. The Razor sits back in the window and pulled smoothly off the back lines, making it an ideal kite to learn to unhook and find your pop and wakestyle groove. Steering was direct, and bar pressure was moderate, with good levels of feedback; good power generation through the turns and smooth rotation through the loop. Easy water relaunch and more de-power make the Razor even better suited for the progressing rider to move to more advanced levels of riding.
Sits back in the window As the Razor sits back in the window, some testers found it harder to drive upwind than some of the others.
WHAT THE SBC TEST TEAM RIDERS ARE SAYING
“Overall, a really good kite: good power, de-power, decent turning. Good all-around performance.”
“I liked the grip and feel of the bar. Well-behaved kite, good for a beginner or intermediate rider. Easy to unhook; nice, smooth turns.”
“One of the big boosters for me (along with Nomad and Rebel). Prefers back line tension and a more precise sheeting position, but you get a great performance kite as a result.”
