2012 Naish Park Review

Apr 11, 2012

Author: SBC Kiteboard / Shane Thompson

Best in Class: Test Favourite Freeride All-Terrain

Size tested: 7, 9, 12 m
Design style: 4-line, 3-strut delta C

The Naish Park has been refined from its breakout model to make it one of this year’s test standouts in the Freeride All-Terrain category. Not a rookie anymore, the Park has more consistent pull, with some smooth pivotal turns and overall power delivery, and more crisp handling and control. The Park stood out with its ability to thrive in every discipline from freeride to wakestyle and into the waves. Last year, the Park suffered from a lighter bar touch and less lowend power, but its easy handling and superb turning speed made up for some of it. This Park had solid low-end power that was easy to find, capitalize on and play with. Smoother power, and more of it, the Park boosted consistently, with reactive handling and more direct feedback for smooth landings. There’s a certain simplicity in the three-strut kites that builds confidence in any rider, and the Park shone in any condition and discipline. Good amounts of pop and smooth unhooked pull made it a winner with the new-school wakestyle riders. Water relaunch was also improved, with easier and quicker pivot off the wing tips. The direct steering, amiable de-power and good balance add to its keen wave instincts. For good sideshore waveriding, the Park sat back with good drift and a balance in the nine-metre. Have fun with some style at your local park: this kite hits the freestyle flatwater, unhooks like a champ, and will guarantee epic sideshore and sideoff waveriding sessions at your local break.
